When you try to save email messages and or attachments to a SharePoint server, you might run into an issue that SharePoint does not accept file names with certain characters in them. MessageSave makes it very easy to save email messages to a SharePoint server. As a first step, you would use MessageSave to save messages with SharePoint-friendly file names. Then simply drag and drop the saved files into SharePoint.

To save messages with SharePoint-friendly file names:

  1. Save this file sharepoint_scrub_filename.vbs as c:\sharepoint_scrub_filename.vbs
  2. Select a folder or messages from which you would like to extract sender information and click on the MessageSave Outlook toolbar button.
  3. In the MessageSave "Save Messages" dialog, check the "Execute" checkbox and type c:\sharepoint_scrub_filename.vbs in the field next to it.
  4. Click "Save Now".
  5. That's it. MessageSave will save your messages. Generated files can be copied to a SharePoint server.

Note: the same steps will work for saving attachments if you use EZDetach.
