Automatically print Outlook TIFF attachments

Nowadays most people receive faxes via online fax services which deliver faxes as email attachments. PDF (.pdf) and TIFF (.tif) are the two most frequently used formats for electronic fax delivery. This page describes how to configure your system to automatically print incoming TIFF files. See instructions on how to print PDF attachments if your faxes are sent as PDF files.

Preliminary setup:

  • Open Microsoft Office Document Imaging. It is located under "Microsoft Office Tools" on your start menu. Note: If you do not see an entry for Microsoft Office Document Imaging, it may not be installed on your computer. Run Microsoft Office setup program and check "Microsoft Office Document Imaging" under "Office Tools".
  • Select Tools-Options menu command.
  • Switch to the "Other" tab.
  • Click "Reset" under "Default program". (If "Reset" is disabled, you do not need to click it).

After performing the above steps, please follow these directions on how to print email attachments. They now should work for tif files too.
