Export Outlook Calendar in iCalendar (.ics) format

MessageSave makes it very easy to export your Outlook calendar for import into other applications, such as Apple Mac iCal, Entourage, etc.

To export your Outlook Calendar in iCalendar (.ics) format:

  1. (This step is optional). By default, MessageSave exports Calendar items from your default mailbox or PST. If you would like to export a different Calendar folder, simply open that folder in Outlook first.
  2. Invoke the following menu command - "MessageSave -> Apple Mac Export -> Export Calendar".
  3. That's it. MessageSave will export all your appointments into an iCalendar (.ics) file.

To import an iCalendar (.ics) file into the Mac iCal:

  1. Copy the .ics file to your Mac. A USB flash drive or an external hard drive is probably the easiest way to do that.
  2. Simply drag and drop the .ics file into the iCal window or double-click on the file..

To import an iCalendar (.ics) file files into Entourage:

  1. Copy the .ics file to your Mac. A USB flash drive or an external hard drive is probably the easiest way to do that.
  2. To import an .ics file into Entourage, right-click (or Ctrl-click) and select "Open with Entourage".

To import an iCalendar (.ics) file files into Outlook 2011 for Mac:

  1. Copy the .ics file to your Mac. A USB flash drive or an external hard drive is probably the easiest way to do that.
  2. To import an .ics file into Outlook 2011, right-click (or Ctrl-click) and select "Open with Microsoft Outlook".
  3. In Outlook, switch to Calendar view. You will find your imported calendar under "My Calendars-> On My Computer-> No Category".

Note: Calendar item attachments will be migrated if you use Outlook 2007 or newer. For one-time migration you might be able to use an evaluation version of Office 2007, offered for download on the Microsoft Office website.

Note: Entourage 2004 has known issues with importing ICS files. We recommend upgrading to the latest version of Entourage - 2008.
